Wake Forest Storylines
• With a pair of opening weekend wins at the Wake Forest Invitational presented by The Loop Pizza Grill, the Demon Deacons improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2013, the last year the Deacs made the NCAA Tournament.
• Wake Forest earned five points (35th-most) in this week's NSCAA poll, marking the first time the Deacs have received votes since Sept. 2, 2014. The Deacs are also ranked ninth in the Southeast Region, trailing eight other undefeated ACC foes.
• Maddie Huster leads the Deacons with three points, as she tallied an assist in the season-opener against San Diego and notched the game-winning goal against La Salle. Madison Hammond and Bayley Feist each found the back of the net against the Toreros.
• Lindsay Preston has a 2-0 record in goal with a .900 save percentage and 0.50 goals-against average, recording her seventh career shutout against La Salle.
Tony's 20th
• Head coach Tony da Luz enters his 20th season at the helm of the Demon Deacons. His teams have reached the NCAA Tournament in 17 of his 19 years, and he has been the head coach for 19 of the program's 22 seasons. He has a 274-183-41 record all-time, including 229-142-38 at Wake Forest.
• Da Luz opened the season against his alma mater, San Diego, where he was a two-time All-WCC honoree. Following his graduation in 1985, he was an assistant coach on the men's team until 1991 before starting a women's program from the ground up. He coached the Toreros for five seasons before coming to Wake Forest, recording a 46-42-3 record.
Opponent and Series History
• The Panthers enter the game with an 0-1-1 record, tying Stetson, 1-1, in their opener before falling to USF, 3-2, on an overtime own goal. Alyssa Robinson has scored two of FIU's three goals, with Michaela Rouse tallying the other. Sophia Trujillo has played every minute in goal, recording a .778 save percentage.
• FIU finished last season with an 8-11 record, and most recently qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2011.
