Deacs in Rio: Olympic Update

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - The 2016 Olympic Games are underway in Rio as three Wake Forest alumni are in action.

FIELD HOCKEY: Lauren Crandall & Michelle Kasold (USA)
Team USA is off to a strong start in Rio with victories over Argentina and Australia in its first two games to lead Pool B. On Aug. 6, the Americans upset world No. 2 Argentina, 2-1, with Kasold scoring the game-winner. On Aug. 8, they downed world No. 3 Australia, 2-1. Crandall is the team's captain as the Americans look for their first medal since 1984.

Team USA has three pool games remaining against Japan (Aug. 10), India (Aug. 11) and Great Britain (Aug. 13). The top four teams from the pool advance to the quarterfinals.

TRIATHLON: Greg Billington (USA):
Billington will be in action when the triathlon competition is held on Aug. 18.
