The Matchup
Wake Forest returns home for the second tournament of the season, this time welcoming Dartmouth, New Hampshire and Gardner-Webb to Winston-Salem. The Deacs play Dartmouth on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and New Hampshire on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Wake Forest Storylines
By outscoring opponents at a margin of 10-1 through the first four games, Wake Forest is 4-0 for the first time since 2013, the last year the Deacs made the NCAA Tournament.
Wake Forest earned 17 points (32nd-most) in this week's NSCAA poll, most since Sept. 2, 2014. The Deacs are also ranked ninth in the Southeast Region, trailing eight other ACC foes.
Maddie Huster tied the program record for goals in a game by becoming the ninth Deacon all-time to record a hat trick in the 4-0 win at FIU. She also added an assist to give her seven points, second-most in a game all-time.
Wake Forest has tallied three straight shutouts, marking the first time accomplishing that since notching three consecutive 1-0 wins over UMass, Illinois and Miami in September 2012.
Opponent and Series History
Both of Wake Forest's opponents this weekend also enter the weekend undefeated. Dartmouth, which opened the season last weekend, earned a 1-0 double-overtime win over Marist and a 3-0 victory over Iona at home. Casey Cousineau saved all eight shots on goal she faced as she notched a pair of shutouts.
New Hampshire played to a pair of draws its opening weekend against Siena and Colgate, before winning a pair of neutral-site games over Manhattan and Central Connecticut State at the TD Bank Classic last week. Brooke Murphy and Megan Kikosicki each have a pair of goals, while Mimi Borkan has tallied three shutouts, a 0.22 goals-against average and .962 save percentage, allowing just one goal in four games.
The Demon Deacons have never played against either Dartmouth or New Hampshire.
Looking Ahead
Wake Forest continues its five-game homestand next Friday, playing host to Old Dominion at 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
