NBA (5)
Al-Farouq Aminu – Portland TrailBlazers
Aminu, in his seventh year in the league, is entering his second year in Portland. He is coming off his best season as a pro, starting all 82 games and averaging double figure scoring (10.2ppg) for the first time in his career. Aminu found a new outside shot last year, making 126 3-pointers, more than his first five seasons combined.
James Johnson – Miami Heat
Johnson signed as a free agent this summer with Miami after spending the past two seasons in Toronto. He averaged 5.0 points per game in 57 contests with the Raptors in 2015-16. Entering his eighth NBA season, the Heat will be his fifth organization in the league.
Chris Paul – Los Angeles Clippers
The nine-time All-Star is entering his 12th season in the league, his sixth with the Los Angeles Clippers. Last season he averaged 19.5 points per game, his third straight season with at least a 19-point average. Paul was a second-team All-NBA selection last year, his eighth time on one of the three All-NBA squads. Off the court, Paul is also the president of the National Basketball Players Association.
Ish Smith – Detroit Pistons
Smith signed as a free agent this summer with Detroit after the best season of his six as a pro. In 2015-16, Smith rejoined the Sixers early in the season after starting the year with the Pelicans and became the starting point guard in Philadelphia. He averaged career highs 12.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game last year.
Jeff Teague – Indiana Pacers
After spending his first seven NBA seasons in Atlanta, Teague was traded to his hometown Indiana Pacers during the offseason. He averaged 15.7 points per game last year, his fifth straight season in double figure scoring. The 2015 NBA All-Star made a career-high 110 3-pointers last season.
