Demon Deacons Open Three-Game Road Swing at Davidson
• Wake Forest hits the road for a season-long, three-game road trip on Tuesday night when it travels to Davidson for a 7 p.m. matchup against the Wildcats.
• All-time, Wake Forest owns a stellar 28-4-1 record against the Wildcats. It includes a 17-game winning streak dating back to Oct. 2, 1998. Wake Forest's only loss at Davidson came on Oct. 21, 1995, in a 3-1 defeat against the Wildcats.
Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons extended their program-record shutout streak to seven games in a row on Saturday night when Wake Forest shut down NC State for a 1-0 victory at Spry Stadium.
• Alec Ferrell notched his fourth shutout in the win. In four games, the redshirt-senior captain has yet to give up a goal while making 19 saves on the campaign.
• Jacori Hayes scored the game-winner in the 10th minute from just inside the top of the box. Luis Argudo fed Ian Harkes from the right sideline and the senior captain turned and found Hayes cutting toward the box. Hayes collected and fired a heavy shot past the keeper to the right side of goal.
• Hayes has now scored seven game-winners in his career as a Demon Deacon. Each game-winning goal has come since the start of his junior season. He also scored the game-winner on Sept. 3 in the win over Cleveland State.
• In the contest, Wake Forest also set a new program record for most consecutive minutes without allowing a goal. The previous record, set in 1992, stood at 639:59. Currently, the Deacs are on a streak that has now hit 728:28 after the 90-minute shutout against the Wolfpack over the weekend.
Scouting the Wildcats
• Over the course of the first seven games this season, Davidson has struggled to a 1-6-0 record. Last time out, the Wildcats fell 2-1 at home against Appalachian State - a team Wake Forest beat 3-0 earlier this month.
• The Wildcats' lone win of the season thus far came in a 2-0 home victory over UNC Asheville on Sept. 9. Though taking Washington to the brink one game later in Seattle, the Huskies prevailed in double overtime to earn a 3-2 victory.
• Maxi Pragnell leads Davidson with three goals and an assist for seven points on the year. Christian Fechter has scored twice this year and Jon Creel has the other Wildcat goal on the season.
• Andrew Kenneson has started all seven games in goal for Davidson, playing all but 9:02 of game action thus far.
Can't Lose If They Don't Score
• Through nine games, Wake Forest has allowed just two goals. The Deacs are one of three teams nationally to have allowed two goals this season, the lowest total in the nation.
• Currently, Wake Forest is on a shutout streak of 728:28 since it last gave up a goal against Cal Poly. The streak is the third streak of 300-plus minutes and second of 500-plus minutes since head coach Bobby Muuss took over prior to 2015.
• The current streak is now the best in program history. Last year, Wake Forest went 562:29 without allowing a goal from Sept. 26 to Oct. 23. By going 92 seconds of game action against NC State on Saturday, the Deacs snapped the previous program record of 639:59, which was set in 1992.
Try To Get One By Us
• Wake Forest has allowed just 15 goals since the start of the 2015 season.
• That number stands tied for second-fewest in the nation since the start of last season. Only Loyola Chicago (10) has allowed fewer and Denver (head coach Bobby Muuss's previous school before Wake Forest) is tied with the Deacs at 15 goals.
• Just three teams nationally have allowed two goals this season, the fewest in the nation. Wake Forest's 0.22 GAA is second in the country to West Virginia's 0.21.
• For measure, 40 programs this season alone have already allowed 15 or more goals and 57 of the 203 Division I programs allowed at least 30 goals during the 2015 campaign.
• Since the start of 2015, Wake Forest has only allowed three teams to score more than once in a game (Florida International (8/30/15), Louisville (10/30/15) and Stanford (12/3/15)).
Looking Ahead
• Wake Forest will step back into ACC play each of its next two games with tough road tests at Clemson on Friday, Sept. 30, and at Notre Dame on Saturday, Oct. 8. Friday's game at Clemson is set to kick at 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
