Wake Forest Storylines
By outscoring opponents at a margin of 15-1 through the first six games, Wake Forest is 6-0 for the first time since 2009, a year the Deacs went 16-6-1 and made the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
Wake Forest earned 31 points (29th-most) in this week's NSCAA poll, most since Sept. 2, 2014. The Deacs are also ranked ninth in the Southeast Region, trailing eight other ACC foes.
Wake Forest has matched the program record with five straight shutouts, marking the third time in program history accomplishing the feat. The Deacs also have tallied five consecutive shutout victories for just the second time - first since 2006. Wake Forest has gone more than 480 minutes since allowing a goal in the first half of the season-opener.
The Deacs rank seventh nationally in shutout percentage, eighth in goals-against average, and 10th in save percentage. Those totals are led by keeper Lindsay Preston, who ranks in the top 15 individually in each category, as well.
Senior Spotlight
Instead of one big senior day this year, Wake Forest is honoring a senior at each of the final seven home games. Friday's honoree is goalkeeper Taylor Kerxton, who has twice been a member of the Wake Forest athletic department honor roll, and has also been on the ACC Honor Roll and Dean's List.
Sunday's honoree is Jenna Romano, who tallied her first goal, a game-winner, against New Hampshire on Sept. 4. She has played in 46 career games and moved from defender to forward.
Opponent and Series History
Wake Forest is playing both Old Dominion and Davidson for the first time since 2006. The Deacs won the only matchup against the Monarchs in 2006, while the Deacs have claimed 10 straight against the Wildcats.
Old Dominion rebounded from a three-match losing streak by defeating East Carolina, 5-1, on Sunday. Madison Hogan leads the Monarchs with three goals, while Alex Davidson has scored a pair, as well.
Davidson has won three of its past four contests, defeating Gardner-Webb, Wofford and ETSU before falling at Furman. Seeley Yoo leads the way with three goals, while Alex Carpenter, Becca Ravitz and Kendall Thomas have all seen action in net.
Looking Ahead
Wake Forest wraps up its five-game homestand and kicks off ACC play on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. against Clemson on ACC Network Extra.
