Deacs Set For In-State Showdown
Wake Forest heads to Chapel Hill for an in-state showdown on Thursday, Jan. 19, as the Demon Deacons face North Carolina inside Carmichael Arena.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on RSN. Tom Werme and former Demon Deacon LaChina Robinson will have the call.
Last Time Out
The Demon Deacons' comeback effort against No. 17/16 Virginia Tech fell short on Monday, Jan. 16, as Wake Forest dropped a 72-70 decision to the Hokies in Blacksburg.
Wake Forest led by as many as 13 points in the first half before finding themselves trailing by 16 in the fourth quarter. A 15-2 run in the fourth pulled the Deacs within three with 5:29 to play, but were unable to complete the upset.
Four Demon Deacons scored in double figures, led by Amber Campbell's 22 points. Milan Quinn and Elisa Penna scored 15 each and Ariel Stephenson added 10.
Quinn picked up her sixth double-double of the season as she hauled in a game-high 14 rebounds. Alex Sharp matched a career-high with 11 rebounds.
As a team, Wake Forest dominated the glass, outrebounding Virginia Tech 56-36. The Deacs owned the offensive glass collecting 25 offensive boards to the Hokies' 10.
Scouting The Tarheels
North Carolina enters Thursday's contest with a record of 12-6 and a 1-4 mark in the ACC.
The Tarheels are led by Syliva Hatchell, who is in her 31st season at North Carolina and has won 987 career games over her 42-year coaching career.
Stephanie Watts leads North Carolina in both scoring and rebounding as she averages 18.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
Paris Kea ranks second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.1 points per game and leads the Tarheels with 76 assists on the season.
Next Time Out
The Demon Deacons return home for the start of a short two-game homestand on Sunday, Jan. 22, as Wake Forest plays host to Georgia Tech.
Tip-off inside the LJVM Coliseum is set for 2 p.m.
