WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday announced the football schedules for all 14 teams for the coming 2017 season. Wake Forest will play six home games at BB&T Field including a pair of non-conference games.
Wake Forest opens the schedule on Thursday, August 31 at BB&T Field against Presbyterian. The Demon Deacons begin ACC play on Sept. 9 at Boston College.
The Deacons host Utah State at BB&T Field on Sept. 16 in a return game from the 2014 season. This will be the Aggies' first visit to Wake Forest.
Wake Forest will visit Appalachian State for the first time on Sept. 23. The Deacons hold a 14-7-1 advantage over the Mountaineers with every prior game played at BB&T Field.
The ACC home opener will occur on Sept. 30 when Wake Forest hosts Florida State. On Oct. 7, the Deacons travel to defending national champion Clemson before an open date on Oct. 14.
The second half of the season opens on Oct. 21 at Georgia Tech as the Deacons face the Yellow Jackets as its Coastal Division cross-over opponent. Wake Forest returns home on Oct. 28 to host Louisville and then closes non-conference season at Notre Dame on Nov. 4.
Wake Forest will travel to Syracuse on Nov. 11 and then finish the season at home with NC State on Nov. 18 and Duke on Nov. 25.
"I believe the ACC showed what type of football conference it is in 2016 with a national championship," said Clawson. "And the Atlantic Division of the ACC is as tough as any division in college football. This is a challenging schedule but one that we look forward to playing."
Wake Forest will play seven teams in 2017 that played in bowl games following the 2016 season. Those teams went 7-1 in the postseason including Clemson's national championship.
All game times and television networks will be released at a later date.
