Deacs Suffer 71-43 Setback at No. 14/15 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. -- Despite a double-double from Milan Quinn, the Wake Forest women's basketball team fell to No. 14/15 Duke, 71-43, Sunday afternoon inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Quinn recorded her sixth consecutive double-digit game with 10 points while also pulling down 11 rebounds. Her nine double-doubles this season lead the Deacs.
Elisa Penna also finished in double digits with 14 points, her 11th consecutive double-digit game.
Ona Udoh collected a career-high seven rebounds, replacing her previous best of six set at Radford earlier this season.
The Blue Devils (18-4, 6-3 ACC) got on the board first but baskets Quinn and Penna gave the Deacs an early 5-2 lead. The Deacs (13-8, 4-4 ACC) built their lead up to four but after a back-and-forth battle the Blue Devils took the lead halfway through the first quarter.
Duke held on to the lead until a triple from Penna gave the Deacs a 18-16 advantage with seven minutes remaining in the first half. It didn't last long though, as Duke would outscore the Deacs 21-2 in the final seven minutes of the half to take a 37-20 advantage into the locker room.
The second half proved much of the same as the Blue Devils' advantage was too much for the Deacs to overcome as they fell 71-43.
The Deacs out-performed the Blue Devils on the glass, pulling down 45 rebounds to Duke's 36. In the second half alone, the Deacs recorded 26 rebounds to the Blue Devil's 16.
The Demon Deacons return to action Feb. 2 in the LJVM Coliseum against Miami. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
