Last Time Out
The Deacs handed the No. 4-ranked Tar Heels their first ACC loss of the season, 2-1, on the road.
Omir Fernandez put the Deacs on the board in the 39th minute. After a North Carolina equalizer, Jon Bakero put away an Ema Twumasi cross for the game-winner in the second half.
Wake Forest became the last remaining ACC team unbeaten in conference play.
Wake Forest Storylines
The Demon Deacons have one of the most prolific offenses in the nation to date this season. Wake Forest is second in the nation with 33 goals, also ranking atop the country with 106 points, 37 assists and 7.67 corner kicks per game.
Last year, the Deacs finished with 36 goals scored in 25 games. Wake Forest has scored 33 times in 12 games this year.
Four Demon Deacons have already totaled at least 10 points after four did so all last year: Jon Bakero (25 pts - 7g, 11a), Luis Argudo (16 pts - 7g, 2a), Ema Twumsai (16 pts - 7g, 2a) and Brandon Servania (12 pts - 2g, 8a). Bakero is third in the nation in points, and leads the country in assists.
Bakero and defender Kevin Politz were named candidates for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award, two of just three selected in the ACC. Jacori Hayes won the award a season ago.
Wake Forest will be without Servania and Mark McKenzie, who are with the U.S. U-18 Men's National Team in Spain for a pair of friendlies against Belgium and Russia.
Opponent And Series History
Wake Forest is taking on Big South foe Longwood for the first time in program history despite being less than 200 miles apart.
The Lancers are still searching for their first win of 2017. Despite that, Longwood has yet to concede more than two goals in a game and six of its losses have come by one goal. The Lancers finished the 2016 season with an 8-12-1 record.
Lance Da Silva has played every minute in goal for the Lancers. He has a .731 save percentage and 1.59 goals-against average.
