Wake Forest Head Coach Danny Manning

Opening Statement:
"Georgia Southern came in here and got a win to start off their season. They made more plays than us down the stretch, obviously, and they did some really good things, but for us there are a lot of areas where we need to improve. We knew going into this ballgame that their guards were tough and talented, so nothing that we saw today surprised us. We just have to get better. Offensively, for us, we did some things and defensively, they shot 50% in the second half and 41% from 3. They're talented players but we have to provide more resistance and be more resilient. We also have to do a better job of rotation rebounding. A lot of times when our 5-man would rotate over to protect the rim, nobody would come box his man out to stop a follow-up attempt from an offensive rebound. Those are just a couple of areas in which we need to get better. Tip your hat to them-- they came in and we had them down by 14, but they continued to chip away, chip away, chip away."

Doral Moore on the last play:
"Oh the last play didn't lose the game for us. He just bobbled the ball. If we'd have played better defense, we wouldn't have been in that situation. Every possession before that was more important than that last play."

What he learned tonight:
"I learned that our guards have to do a better job of helping us rebound. We have to do a better job of rotation rebounding and as a team, we have to go get the ball. There were too many times where we would turn and look. We would play decent first shot defense and they would miss it but then we wouldn't secure the ball by going to get it. We've got to do a better job of rotation of rebounding and rebounding the basketball."

Georgia Southern Head Coach Mark Byington

Opening Statement:
"You know it goes without saying, because of the respect that we have for Wake Forest, the tradition that they have, the fact that they're a good team, makes this win important. It turned into more of a shootout than I expected; guys were making 3-pointers all over the floor, but fortunately we were matching them. There were times there where adversity hit us: we were having foul trouble and problems boxing them out. I'm proud of these guys with how they fought through adversity. Going through my head was Tookie Brown, he doesn't have the loudest voice but every single huddle he kept telling the guys 'we're going to win this game.' He makes big plays and he made big free-throws. I'm proud of these guys for being able to come back and beat a good team."

On Wake Forest "We won't play many teams like Wake Forest, just their size with players like Doral Moore causes problems. They're physical. They have big guards. We won't play teams like that; we'll play other great teams, some might be as good as them, but we won't have a matchup like that this year."
