Serigne Named a Mackey Award Semifinalist

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest senior tight end Cam Serigne has been named a semifinalist for the John Mackey Award, given annually to the nation's top tight end.
Serigne is one of eight semifinalists which also includes Mark Andrews, Oklahoma; Adam Breneman, Massachusetts; Troy Fumagali, Wisconsin; Mike Gesicki, Penn State; Chris Herndon, Miami (Fla.); Hayden Hurst, South Carolina; and Jaylen Samuels, NC State.
Serigne, a 6-3, 240-pound senior from Ashburn, Va. (Briar Woods), owns every career receiving record for a tight end at Wake Forest. He has 158 career receptions for 1,912 yards and 20 touchdowns. He owns ACC marks for career receptions and career receiving yards by a tight end. He is currently tied with Virginia's Heath Miller (2002-04) and Virginia Tech's Bucky Hodges (2013-16) with 20 career TD receptions.
This season, Serigne has 28 receptions for 393 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns.
The eight semifinalists were determined by confidential balloting of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee. The Mackey Award recipient will be announced on Dec. 6, 2017 and presented live on Dec. 7, 2017 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU.
Mackey, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, is considered to be the best to have played the tight end position. He was a role model on and off the field as demonstrated by his Super Bowl Championship, his commitment to community and his place in history as the first President of the NFLPA.
