
Deacs Ready for UCS Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the UCS Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Saturday, Feb. 18. Competition is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
The meet will be the fifth and final indoor meet for the Deacs held at the JDL Fast Track this season.
The Demon Deacons will be strongly represented in the field with Tesia Kempski and Madison Bragg competing in the pole vault while Max Adams, Elijah Shalaway, Andrea Vahoua, Emily Campbell, Casidy Callahan and Jessica Molina are ready to compete in the men's and women's shot put, respectively. Charlie Ionata, Kyle Johnson, Alva Hicks, Vahoua and Molina are slated for the men's and women's weight throw.
On the track, Lara-Ann Schwede will compete for the black and gold in the 800m while Sarah Fahmy will participate in the 1 Mile Run and Kathryn Kenwood will compete in the 3,000m. The men's team will also compete in the Distance Medley Relay.
Last time out, the Deacs claimed 22 top-10 finishes, 12 of which were top-five, at the Liberty Elite Invitational. Ellie Abrahamson brought home the lone event title in the 3000m run with a personal best time of 9:31.88.
After this weekend, the Deacs head to South Bend for the 2017 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Competition begins at 11 a.m. Feb. 23 and runs through Feb. 25 at the Loftus Sports Center.
