Deacs And Blue Raiders Meet In WNIT Second Round
• Wake Forest travels to Murfreesboro, Tenn. for the second round of the 2017 WNIT on Sunday, March 19 to face Middle Tennessee State. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. (ET) inside the Charles M. Murphy Center.
Deacs In The Tournament
• 2017 marks the seventh all-time appearance in the postseason for Wake Forest and its sixth WNIT bid.
• Wake Forest is 5-5 all-time in the WNIT and has an all-time postseason record of 6-6 which includes a 1-1 mark in NCAA Tournament play.
• This is just the second time in program history that the Demon Deacons have appeared in the postseason in back-to-back seasons. Wake Forest earned a bid to the 2009 and 2010 WNIT, falling in the first round on both occasions.
• In 2016 the Deacs earned a first round victory over Charlotte, 72-69, before falling to eventual runner-up Florida Gulf Coast in the second round.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest opened its WNIT run in emphatic fashion on Thursday, March 16, as the Demon Deacons never trailed in a 71-42 victory over Bethune-Cookman.
• The Deacs were led by a pair of guard in Amber Campbell and Ariel Stephenson. The duo scored 20 points each in the contest while dishing out a combined nine assists.
• Alex Sharp led the rebounding effort with a game-high 11 rebounds.
• Wake Forest's defense limited the Lady Wildcats to just 25.9 percent from the field, the lowest field goal percentage allowed by the Deacs this season.
Scouting The Blue Raiders
• Middle Tennessee State enters the second round of the WNIT on the heels of a first-round victory over Morehead State, 67-58.
• On the season, the Blue Raiders are 22-10 and are led by Alex Johnson's 20.3 points per game. Ty Petty adds 18.1 points of Middle Tennessee State.
• Rick Insell is in his 12th season at the helm of the program, compiling a career record of 298-96.
