Deacs Have Strong Final Round at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- The Wake Forest women's golf team the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate with a strong final round at the Long Cove Club. The Demon Deacons shot a 7-over 291 during the third round to move up six places and finish the tournament in 8th place at 40-over.
Sierra Sims posted a top-10 finish, ending the tournament T-9th at 5-over. She posted a 1-over 72 during Sunday's play.
Erica Herr had her best finish of the season as she was T-14th at 6-over. She had the low round of the day for the Deacs as she shot an even par 71 during the final round.
Jennifer Kupcho had her best round of the week with a final round 72. She finished the tournament at 13-over. Mathilda Cappeliez had a final round 76 to finish at 25-over.
"I was proud of the way the team hung in there today," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "We had only four players today because of Toni's injury. The students went out and played well, making every shot count."
The Demon Deacons will return to action Mar. 14-15 with the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawaii.
