GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest women's basketball freshman Alex Sharp has been selected to the ACC All-Freshman Team, as voted on by the league's coaches, the league announced Monday.
Sharp becomes the 13th student-athlete in program history to be named to the ACC All-Freshman Team, joining fellow teammate Ariel Stephenson who garnered the award a year ago from the Blue Ribbon Panel and the league's coaches. Sharp also joins Stephenson in being named to the ACC All-Freshman team by both the media and coaches, as Sharp earned ACC All-Freshman honors from the Blue Ribbon Panel last week.
A native of Melbourne, Australia, Sharp has made her mark as one of the top freshmen in the ACC, ranking first among freshmen in rebounds per game (7.6), second among qualified shooters in 3-point field goal percentage (36.3), fifth in assists per game (2.3) and seventh in scoring (7.8). She scored a career-high 16 points in Wake Forest's victory over NC State and recently pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds against Louisville.
Sharp and the Demon Deacons recently concluded play at the 2017 ACC Tournament and now await word on a possible postseason bid. Postseason tournaments will be announced on Monday, March 13.
