BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team opened play at the 2017 Bryan National Collegiate Saturday with the first two rounds of play at the Bryan Park Championship Course. The Demon Deacons shot 15-over on Saturday and are in eighth place after 36 holes.
After the opening round was postponed Friday due to rain, the tournament had the first and second rounds on Saturday. The Deacs shot a 13-over 301 in the morning before a 2-over 290 in the afternoon.
Two Demon Deacons are in the individual top five after two rounds. Jennifer Kupcho is tied for second place at 5-under after rounds of 70 and 69. Sierra Sims shot even par 72 in the first round before a second round 68, tied for the best round of the tournament, to be tied for fourth at 4-under.
Erica Herr and Antonia Eberhard rounded out the first round lineup for the Deacs with 79 and 80 respectively, while Eberhard and Sierra Brooks posted rounds of 76 and 77 in the second round.
"Considering that we are still not 100 percent and had some players getting back to the lineup, I think the team did very well," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "They hung in there and showed how tough they are. It was a hard day with 36 holes. Hopefully we can have five players out there tomorrow and see what we can do."
The tournament concludes Sunday with the final round at Bryan Park. The third round will have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
