Kupcho Runner-Up at ACC Championship

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team concluded play Saturday at the 2017 ACC Championship with the final round at The Reserve Golf Club. Jennifer Kupcho posted her second consecutive runner-up finish at the event to lead the Demon Deacons.
Jennifer Kupcho shot a 1-under 71 on Saturday to finish the tournament at 4-under, two strokes behind medalist Leona Maguire of Duke.
"Jennifer played extremely well the entire week," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "She was under par every round this week and has nine straight rounds under par. Jennifer has been very consistent and playing at a high level."
Sierra Sims posted her second straight top-10 finish at an ACC Championship. She shot a final round 74 to finish the tournament at even par and in a tie for eighth place.
As a team, the Demon Deacons finished in 12th place after shooting 23-over on Saturday to end the tournament at 67-over. Erica Herr had a final round 78 and Anna Wears posted a final round 87. Monica Schumacher rounded out the lineup with a career-low 88 in the final round.
"Sierra Sims had another top 10 finish and there were a lot of positives she can take from this week," said Dailey. "Erica hung in there and really battled while not being 100 percent. Anna and Monica played very well and I am proud of how they came out here this week to help hold our team together. It was a good week. We had a lot of fun, learned a lot and are looking forward to regionals."
The Demon Deacons will now await the NCAA Championship selection show on April 27. The NCAA Regionals will be held May 8-10.
