BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team concluded play at the 2017 Bryan National Collegiate Sunday with the final round at the Bryan Park Championship Course. The Demon Deacons shot a 7-over 295 to finish the tournament in ninth place at 22-over par.
Jennifer Kupcho led the Deacs with a third place individual finish, her fifth top-five in eight starts this season. She shot a 1-under 71 on Sunday to finish at 6-under, two shots off the lead.
Sierra Sims had her sixth top-10 finish of the season, shooting a final round 73 to finish tied for ninth place at 3-under.
Erica Herr shot a final round 75 to finish the tournament at 16-over. Antonia Eberhard also finished at 16-over as she shot a final round 76. Sierra Brooks rounded out the lineup, shooting a final round 77.
"I was really proud of our team and how they played this week," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "We were getting some players back in the lineup and we still are not at 100 percent. We were able to have all five students finish today and that was an important step as we hope to be at full strength for the postseason."
Alabama won the tournament in a Bryan National Collegiate record 851 (13-under), breaking the previous record of 856 by Duke in 2001. Kristen Gillman of Alabama also set a tournament record, winning with an 8-under 208, breaking the record of 209 set by Candy Hannemann of Duke in 2001.
"The staff at Bryan Park did an incredible job hosting this tournament," said Dailey. "The scores and the tournament records are signs that the course is in great shape. The Bryan Foundation has always been wonderful to us to allow us to have this event."
The Demon Deacons will return to action April 13-15 with the ACC Championship, held for the first time at The Reserve Golf Club in Pawleys Island, S.C.
