Wake Forest Picked to Win ACC Atlantic

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest was picked to win the ACC Atlantic Division in a vote of head coaches, the league announced on Wednesday.
Eight of the 12 head coaches selected the Demon Deacons to win the Atlantic, while Clemson (three) and Louisville (one) also received first-place votes.
North Carolina is projected as the overall league champion, receiving five first-place votes, while the Deacs finished second with three votes. Clemson (two), Virginia (one) and Notre Dame (one) also received votes to win the league.
The runner-up in the 2016 NCAA College Cup, Wake Forest finished the 2016 season with a 19-3-3 overall record and won both the ACC regular season and tournament titles.
The Deacs play one more exhibition against UNCW at home on Aug. 19 at 7 p.m., before opening the regular season at home against Rutgers on Aug. 25.
