The Matchup
• Wake Forest and Charlotte will face off Sunday, Aug. 27 at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons secured their first victory over a top-five opponent since the 2012 season with a 3-2 victory over No. 3 South Carolina Aug. 24. Specifically, it was the first victory over a No. 3 ranked opponent since defeating Duke on Nov. 4, 2011.
Maddie Huster, Bayley Feist and Hannah Betfort tallied goals for the Deacs while Huster, Sarah Medina and Vicky Krug added assists.
• Freshman Hannah Betfort recorded the game-winning goal, her second of the season, in the 62nd minute.
Lindsay Preston played all 90 minutes in goal for the Deacs and recorded three saves.

Wake Forest Storylines
• Wake Forest finished the 2016 slate with seven shutouts, just one shy of the program record of eight set in 2013.
• The Deacs are returning their top three scorers from last season in Peyton Perea, Maddie Huster and Bayley Feist. The trio also finished the 2016 campaign with double-digit point totals as Huster recorded five goals and four assists for 14 points, Perea finished with six goals for 12 points and Feist had five goals and two assists for 12 points.
• Wake Forest is returning 19 members from the 2016 roster while welcoming seven freshmen.

Scouting the 49ers
• The Charlotte 49ers are coming off of the 2016 season with an 11-9-2 record and a Conference USA Tournament Champions title. The team fell in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament to Duke. So far this season, the team is 1-2-0 with a 3-2 double-overtime loss at USF, a 1-0 victory at home against UNC Greensboro and a 1-0 loss to Georgia at home.
• Martha Thomas is returning for her senior year at Charlotte. Last season, she became the first player in Charlotte program history to register three double-digit scoring campaigns and now has a chance to set career school records in goals, points and game-winning goals. Also, sophomore Megan Greene recorded both of Charlotte's goals in the season opener and enters the season as a Preseason All-Conference USA Team choice.
• This will be the 12th meeting between the programs. Wake Forest holds a 10-0-1 advantage, including a 4-0-1 tilt at home. In the last meeting, the Demon Deacons won 2-0 in Charlotte on Aug. 26, 2012 while the teams last met in Spry Stadium on Sept. 12, 2008. Wake Forest won that match, 3-0.

Sunday Funday
• After Sunday's contest, fans can join the women's soccer team on the field after the game to kick around the soccer ball.
• Also on Sunday, all youth soccer fans ages 12 and younger will receive free admission if they wear their team's jerseys to the match.

Looking Ahead
• After Sunday, Wake Forest will take a quick trip to Fairfax, Virginia to play George Mason on Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. before returning home to face Princeton on Sept. 3 at 1 p.m.
