WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's soccer defeated Charlotte, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in Spry Stadium to stay perfect on the season.

Sofia Rossi tallied two goals in her first start for the Demon Deacons, while Abby McNamara netted her first career goal as well.

Rossi put Wake Forest (4-0-0) on the board in the third minute. With her first touch of the game, Rossi received the ball from Bayley Feist on a cross before knocking it in from 10 yards out. The assist was the first for Feist this season. Rossi doubled the Deacs' lead in the 20th minute after a shot from 15 yards out off a long ball from Ally Haran. The assist was Haran's third career assist and first of the season.

Up 2-0 in the second half, McNamara added a goal of her own in the 71st minute as a redirect off a cross from Estelle Laurier.

The Demon Deacons posted their third shutout of the season thanks to a combined effort in goal from Lindsay Preston and Nonie Frishette. The duo made two saves.

Wake Forest limited Charlotte (1-3-0) to just three shots throughout the contest. The Deacs recorded 11 shots, including six on target. Bri Carney led the Deacs with a career-high five shots, including two on goal. Wake Forest also held an 8-1 advantage in corners.

Twenty-four Demon Deacons saw action while Haran and Vicky Krug led the team with 90 minutes each.

Up next, Wake Forest will hit the road to face George Mason on Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. The Deacs return to Spry Stadium on Sept. 3 when they face Princeton at 1 p.m.
