Wake Forest Voted to Finish Ninth in ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team was picked to finish ninth in the ACC preseason poll, the league announced Thursday (Aug. 3).

Defending conference champion Florida State was selected to repeat in the voting conducted by the head coaches, receiving eight of the 14 first-place votes. The Seminoles received 186 points followed by North Carolina (172), Duke (170), Virginia (160) and Notre Dame (145). North Carolina and Virginia each took two first-place votes while Duke and Notre Dame earned one each.

With 72 points, Wake Forest was selected ninth for the third season in a row. The Deacs finished ahead of Boston College, Miami, Louisville, Syracuse and Pitt.

The Demon Deacons open the 2017 season in an exhibition contest at NC State on Aug. 11 at 7 p.m.
