Wake Forest Head Coach Dave Clawson

Opening Statement:
"It's good to be 1-0. I really like the way our football team came out. In a game like this, you just want to come out ready to play and I thought that in the first half it was pretty clean football — we didn't have any turnovers in the first half, we had no alignment/assignment mistakes, I thought the offense executed well. They got a few runs on us on defense but we rallied to it. When you play a game like that, that you should win, you just want to come out clean and not beat yourself. I thought we did that in the first half, and the good thing was that we got to play a lot of kids in the second half. That last few drives on defense we had nine freshmen on the field and the other two guys that weren't freshmen out there were Chris Calhoun and Deon Young, who was a graduate transfer who had never played here. Those guys got to get game ready and right now they're not. Today was valuable and it'll be great teaching tape. We're 1-0. We'll learn from this one and get ready for the next one which is a big one in conference."

On the explosiveness of Greg Dortch:
"He's been doing that all camp and he was doing it last year on scout team. It's exciting to have him now in our return game and he did some good things at receiver too. Again, the level of competition is going to step up, but I think Greg makes plays against our defense consistently."

On Kendall Hinton's first performance since early last season:
"It took a little bit to get into a flow. We kind of got bailed out that first drive with the pass interference and then he found a groove. You know, it's always different when you're the back-up but he went in there and I thought his ball to Greg [Dortch] was perfect and the ball to Alex Bachman was beautiful. I mean that thing was placed perfectly. We've got to get both those guys [Wolford and Hinton] ready to play. I've said that from the get go. I wanted him to feel important and wanted and I wanted him to play with our first offense. It's great that we got that opportunity.'"

Wake Forest senior quarterback John Wolford

On playing well in the opener:
"I think we came out with one of our goals which was starting fast on the team and we did exactly that. We moved the chains, got a lot of first downs, hit some big plays, you know all things you look for in an offense which I think we did."

On the weapons the offense has this season:
"It's great and it makes my job easier. You throw a bubble screen and it's nine yards, whereas in previous years maybe you only got two. So it makes me look better, and it's a product of those guys working hard in the offseason in terms of timing. We saw that coming through. But by no means are we content with where we're at especially since our schedule gets extremely difficult starting next week."

On Kendall Hinton:
"I thought he did a great job He hit some deep balls, had some beautiful throws, moved the chains on third down. It's a good thing for this team when both of us are playing well because you never know when someone might get hurt and you always got to be that guy to be ready so I think he did a great job."

Wake Forest redshirt freshman wide receiver Greg Dortch

On his first collegiate game:
"It was very exciting. I've been working my tail off for the past year and a half for this opportunity and I'm just thankful that Coach Clawson and Coach Higgins and all the rest of the coaches on the coaching staff put me in a position where I was at tonight."

On his favorite play of the night:
"I would have to say my first touchdown on the screen that we ran. My first touchdown as a Deac was everything I dreamed of."

On his kick return for touchdown that called back:
"When I got to the back of the end zone and Chucky Wade hugged me and then Jack Freudenthal came and I turned around and I saw the yellow flag. It's all right though. I'll get another one."

Presbyterian Head Coach Tommy Spangler

On Wake Forest:
"Wake Forest has got a good football team. I mean they're going to win some games. They're going to win some games in the ACC. Their first-string quarterback can do a lot of special things and they present some issues. But, we sure helped things a little bit and made them look a little bit better than maybe they are. By not doing what we are supposed to be doing, it got out of hand a little bit early. You have to give them credit, I'm not taking anything away from that because they've got a heck of a football team. Both sides of the ball, the kicking team, they've got some weapons and guys that will go make plays."

On Presbyterian's showing:
"We've got to be able to move the ball a little bit better, we have to sustain some drives and not punt so much. We have to help each other out, offense was struggling, defense was struggling, special teams were struggling, and it kind of snowballed and then it's twenty-something to nothing. They just kept out-executing us. I've got to look at the tape and see what kind of toughness we are playing with, what kind of effort we are playing with, what kind of scheme discipline we are playing with, what kind of execution we have. I don't care, we knew it was going to be tough to come up here and beat an ACC school but I'm disappointed with just the overall night and how we really could have played better at times and we didn't."

On his message to his team:
"Our message to the team was ‘that ain't us.' We were trying to not come up here and let that happen but it did. We've got to regroup."
