Bassey Named ACC Defensive Back of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Essang Bassey, a 5-10, 185-pound sophomore cornerback from Columbus, Ga. (Columbus), has been named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Bassey had five tackles and an interception return for a touchdown in Wake Forest's 34-10 win at Boston College on Saturday. Bassey's pick-six came with 1:36 to play in the second quarter and Wake Forest holding onto a 14-7 lead. The interception led to Wake Forest's 21-7 halftime lead. The interception was the first of Bassey's career.

This week, Wake Forest goes out of conference to host Utah State at 3 pm at BB&T Field.
