Wake Forest Head Coach Danny Manning
Opening Statement...
"Duke is obviously a very talented basketball team, and we didn't do ourselves any favors by how we handled the ball in the first half. We had 15 turnovers, which led to far too many turnovers for us. In the second half we did a little bit better. We only turned it over 6 times but that hole is probably too much to overcome."
On Duke forcing turnovers...
"Some of it is that you're trying to get in to the paint and attack and make things happen. We want to get into the paint off of two feet and make a good decision from there. We had a few, more than a few, turnovers where we didn't go meet the basketball. The ball is being passed to us and we didn't go to the ball so they go through the passing lane to start a fast break or create a deflection."
On Chaundee Brown's performance...
"This is the best game he's played since Boston College. He scored the ball and he shot the ball well. Tonight, he did a really good job of driving and getting to the pull-up. His in-between game was good. He hit a couple floaters and had five assists. He did a good job. It's good to see, but it's disappointing with the loss."
Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski
Opening Statement...
"That was a big win for us. I think Wake Forest was really ready for us. They're such an explosive offensive team and Doral Moore is getting better and better. He had a sensational game, I think he was 9-for-9, with maybe six offensive rebound buckets. He gives them a huge presence inside. They're hurting with Keyshawn Woods being out. That really hurts them because he is such a veteran and such a good player. I thought our guys played really well. We had a let up right at the end of the first half when we gave them six-straight points but then we played really well to start the second half. They came back and we took some bad shots I thought. Brandon Childress really put them on his back. They got it down to eight points. After that, our guys performed well under game pressure. Grayson Allen did a great job of running the team and we got the ball to our big games and they came through for us again. I thought our bench really gave us a huge boost tonight. Good win. Any win in the conference is a really good win, especially on the road."
On an improvement in 3-point defense...
"It has not just been the last couple games, it's been since NC State. We've just practiced like crazy with our footwork. We are a very young team and we didn't have all that practice before that game. We had games and then breaks. Our feet are moving really well right now and that helps us in man and zone defense. We work on that every day and the guys have been enthusiastic about it and it's paying off, but we still have to do it. For us, a point of emphasis against Wake Forest is trying to make it tough for them to shoot threes because they can shoot the ball so well so we are getting better defensively."
On the importance of turnovers in this game...
"I thought our ball screen defense for most of the game until the second half was outstanding and our big guys did a good job of walling off the openings that the perimeter would have. We kept it more to the side and as a result our defense was pushed over, which gave us more of a chance to get our hands on balls. I thought our defense was good, except for the rebounding in the first half. They had 11 offensive rebounds. They finished with 16, but those 11 they were scoring off of rebounds. We have to complete the defensive exchange."
On limiting Doral Moore in the second half...
"I think he got in foul trouble, so I don't think we did anything except we went to our bigs and our bigs can play. You have to foul him, unless you double him. He got in foul trouble and that was the only way we could defend him."
