LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team fell, 89-52, at No. 4 Louisville on Sunday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center.

The Demon Deacons (10-12, 2-7 ACC) fell behind early as the Cardinals (22-1, 8-1 ACC) raced out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

Elisa Penna continued her strong season for Wake Forest, leading the team with 20 points and 12 rebounds. It marks her first double-double of the season and the sixth of her career.

The Deacs were trailing by only three midway through the first quarter, but Louisville finished the period on a 14-6 run to take a 24-13 lead into the second quarter.

The Cardinals continued to extend their lead throughout the second quarter, leading by as many as 21 points before taking a 48-30 lead into halftime. The Deacs were held to 31 percent shooting in the first half.

Louisville used an 18-3 run in the third quarter to take a 72-35 lead into the final period, where it ran out the clock and came away with the convincing victory.

Up next, the Demon Deacons travel to Chestnut Hill to take on Boston College this Thursday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.
