Lapa Named National Player of the Week

Wake Forest junior midfielder Bruno Lapa earned the honor from both the United Soccer Coaches and College Soccer News.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest junior Bruno Lapa has been named the National Player of the Week by both the United Soccer Coaches and College Soccer News.

Lapa led the Demon Deacons to a pair of victories last week, as Wake Forest defeated Davidson, 5-1, and No. 15 Duke, 4-2.

In Tuesday's win over Davidson, Lapa scored twice to extend a 2-1 lead to 4-1 in the final 15 minutes of the game. He also assisted on another goal in the victory.

On Saturday against the Blue Devils, Lapa notched his third game-winner of the season with a 67th-minute score.

Through 10 games this season, Lapa is averaging more than two points per game, totaling nine goals and six assists for an 24 points - leading the ACC in each category. In the nation, Lapa ranks sixth in goals, ninth in assists and third in total points.

Lapa and the Deacs are in action Tuesday night playing host to UNCG at 7 p.m.
