Wake Forest senior Logan Gdula helped the Deacs to a shutout win at South Carolina, and scored the game-tying goal in a win over No. 6 UVA.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest senior Logan Gdula was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

Gdula, an outside back, helped anchor a back line which shut out South Carolina on the road on Tuesday, 2-0.

Then on Friday, Gdula got into the offensive attack and scored a late equalizer at No. 6 Virginia, tying the game at 2-2 before Justin McMaster netted the game-winner less than two minutes later.

The goal was the first of the season for Gdula. He now has six points on a goal and four assists this season.

Wake Forest has now had four weekly award selections by the ACC. Bruno Lapa and Omir Fernandez (twice) previously earned Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Gdula is one of four graduating seniors to be honored prior to Friday's game against Louisville, along with Brad Dunwell, Sam Raben and Tre Bailey. Over the last four years, the senior class has led the Deacs to a 70-9-7 overall record and an ACC Atlantic Division title each season.
