GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest senior Elisa Penna was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, as the league announced Tuesday (Oct. 23) the preseason accolades and predicted order of finish for the 15 teams in the league.
The league's coaches and the Blue Ribbon Panel had identical Preseason All-ACC Teams, with Penna selected as one of the top-10 players heading into the 2018-19 season.
A native of Bergamo, Italy, Penna enters her senior campaign 25th on Wake Forest's career scoring list with 1,040 points. Last year, Penna was named to the All-ACC Second Team at the end of the season, becoming the first Deac since Dearica Hamby in 2015 to garner All-ACC honors.
Penna finished the year ninth in the league in scoring (15.8) and free throw percentage (81.6). The senior had a career game against NC State on Feb. 18, finishing with a career-high 34 points and a career-best nine made three-pointers. The nine made triples tied a program record and tied for the most in the ACC last season while the 34-point effort were the most by a Demon Deacon since Hamby scored 36 in 2015.
In the preseason poll, the Demon Deacons were selected to finish 12th by both the media and the coaches.
