By Wake Forest Athletic Communications (@WakeFB)
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - This season marks 50 years of Demon Deacon football at BB&T Field and Wake Forest is encouraging fans at the Homecoming football game on November 3rd to get in the spirit.
We are asking for fans to wear their oldest Wake Forest gear to the game. Show off the looks of the past and share your photos either during the week leading up to the game or at BB&T Field on gameday. Share your photos of your favorite Wake Forest gear on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtags #GoDeacs and #BBTField50 and watch for your photos on the videoboard!
Our Open the Gate honorees for the game will be our Demon Deacon fans as represented by season ticket holders who have held tickets for all 50 years of BB&T Field/Groves Stadium. Anyone who has held tickets all 50 years should email mathisld@wfu.edu as soon as possible for specific information on gameday.
In addition, prices for 50 Years of BB&T Field souvenir cups will be specially priced at $4 for the Syracuse game as well. Saturday's "Unrivaled Moment" feature will take a look back at the Deacons' first ACC Championship season of 1970 and fans will notice that graphics promoting the contest will take on the same look as the 1968 game program cover as well.
Fans will also be able to take a look back at the vehicles of the era when BB&T Field, formerly known as Groves Stadium, opened. A 10-car classic car display from the 1960s and early 70s will be located between the Gold Lot and Gate 2. Check out the display from 9:30 am to noon!
Kickoff on Saturday is at noon as the Deacons host Syracuse. For tickets, click here or call 336-758-3322.
