Wake Forest Head Coach Danny Manning
Opening statement...
"I thought tonight we came out and shot the ball exceptionally well from the three-point line in the first half – seven of 10 – and that really got us off to a good start. I thought defensively we were and got a 24 second shot clock violation and did pretty some good things, being active and flying around. I thought the best thing for us throughout the course of the ball game was we finished the first half getting six stops on seven possessions. I thought that gave us a little cushion going into halftime and certainly it helped us out down the stretch in the ball game when they started making some shots and got to the free throw line and did some good things. I thought we did a pretty good job taking care of the ball and sharing the ball but we have to do better from the free throw line."
On the key to the pace of scoring...
"We weren't going to shoot seven of 10 in the second half. It's going to average out. I'd like to think we'd make one but we still ended up shooting 47 [percent] for the game from three and we'll take that any day, all day. But you know, they went zone early and we were able to knock down some shots and that gave us some confidence from behind the three point line in the first half."
On the ball movement…
"Anytime you finish with more assists than turnovers then yes. We turned the ball over in some tough situations but to [only] have 10 for the game, we're happy with that."
Davidson Head Coach Bob McKillop
Opening statement...
"It's a joy to be back here at Wake Forest. We came here so many years in my first years at Davidson and I'm delighted that Danny gave us the opportunity to play. We'll play in Charlotte next year. We certainly welcome opportunities to play on the big stage in the ACC and we're certainly gratified that Danny gave us this opportunity."
On if the game was fairly even after the first 10 minutes…
"They made those threes early. I think [Brandon] Childress and [Jaylen] Hoard made a couple threes early and it put us on our heels. I think you could see there was some residue from our game Saturday. We played an overtime game Saturday and it was an incredibly hard fought game … we flew back and got in at about 10:00. We didn't have any ability or any stamina to go through workouts on Sunday. Everything was a walk through Sunday, everything was a walk through Monday."
