Deacs Receive More National Accolades

Several Deacons were honored by TopDrawerSoccer and College Soccer News.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Several Demon Deacons earned additional accolades from both College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer, those organizations announced.
On College Soccer News' All-America teams, Wake Forest's Omir Fernandez and Bruno Lapa were picked as first team All-Americans. The Deacs were also ranked No. 6 nationally in the final poll.
TopDrawerSoccer released its postseason Best XI awards. Fernandez was a first team pick, Lapa a second team selection and Brad Dunwell was named to the third team, all in the midfield. Aristotle Zarris was also named to the Freshmen Best XI second team.
Four Deacs were recognized as top-100 players in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer. Fernandez was rated No. 5, Lapa was ranked No. 17, Dunwell at No. 24 and senior defender Logan Gdula at No. 78. Among freshmen, Zarris was rated No. 18, Isaiah Parente picked at No. 40, Holland Rula ranked No. 58 and Kyle Holcomb at No. 97.
Wake Forest was also ranked No. 6 in the nation by United Soccer Coaches and No. 9 by TopDrawerSoccer.
The Deacs finished the year with an 18-3-0 overall record and won their fourth-straight ACC Atlantic Division title.
