Four Deacs Earn All-Region Honors

Brad Dunwell, Omir Fernandez and Bruno Lapa earned first team honors, while Sam Raben was named to the third team.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Four Demon Deacons earned United Soccer Coaches All-South Region honors, the organization announced.
Wake Forest's first team honorees include Brad Dunwell, Omir Fernandez and Bruno Lapa, while Sam Raben was named to the third team.
They now move onto the ballot for All-America, which will be announced later in the month.
Dunwell, a three-time All-ACC selection, started all 91 games in the defensive midfield over his four seasons. He recorded a pair of assists this year, and totaled a goal and 14 assists in his career.
Fernandez was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year after totaling 30 points on a team-high 12 goals plus six assists. His five game-winning goals were the most in the ACC.
Lapa had a breakout junior season and earned ACC Midfielder of the Year honors, as well. He started 20 games and netted 10 goals and an ACC-best nine assists for a total of 29 points.
Like Dunwell, Raben started all 91 games since stepping foot on campus in 2018. The center back anchored a defense which recorded seven shutouts, and also added an assist in a 2-1 win over Boston College.
Wake Forest finished the year with a 17-3 overall record and claimed its fourth-straight ACC Atlantic Division title.
