United Soccer Coaches recognized Omir Fernandez and Bruno Lapa as first team All-Americans and picked Brad Dunwell to the second team.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Wake Forest's Omir Fernandez, Bruno Lapa and Brad Dunwell were all named All-Americans by United Soccer Coaches on Thursday night.
Fernandez and Lapa were picked as first team All-Americans, while Dunwell was selected to the second team.
Wake Forest has now had nine All-Americans the last four years. Jack Harrison earned the honor in 2015, followed by Alec Ferrell, Jacori Hayes and Ian Harkes in 2016, then Jon Bakero and Kevin Politz in 2017.
The Deacs were one of just two teams with a pair of first team honorees, joined by Indiana.
Fernandez tied for the ACC lead with 30 points and ranked second with 12 goals. He also matched the ACC lead with five game-winning goals, including three against ACC foes and another in the NCAA Tournament.
"We knew when we recruited him that Omir had a special talent," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "His work ethic in the offseason helped him take his game to the next level after coming off the bench as a freshman. When we needed a big goal, we looked to Omir all season long, and he deserves this honor as one of the best attackers in the country."
Lapa led the ACC with nine assists, also ranking tied for third with 29 points, and his 10 goals were tied for fourth. He tallied at least a point in nine of the first 11 games as the Deacs burst out to an 11-0 record and No. 1 in the national rankings.
Dunwell, the Deacs' holding midfielder, paced an attack which led the ACC and ranked in the top five nationally with 52 goals. Dunwell had a pair of assists and started all 91 games of his Wake Forest career.
"For four years, Brad has been one of the anchors of this team and it's awesome to finally see him recognized on a national stage," Muuss said. "He didn't always get the goals or assists his teammates did, but they don't score those goals without Brad setting up the attack, and he's equally important on the defensive side. We'll miss Brad next year, but can't wait to see him begin his professional career."
Wake Forest finished the year with a 18-3 overall record, as well as a 7-1 mark in ACC play en route to the program's fourth-straight ACC Atlantic Division title.

"He grew into a leadership role both on and off the field and his success also became the team's success. Whether we needed a big goal or a final pass, Bruno was there to deliver on the field this year."
