WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest receiver Greg Dortch has been named to the Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List. The award is given annually by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club to the nation's best college receiver.
Dortch, a 5-9, 170-pound redshirt sophomore from Richmond, Va. (Highland Springs), was a Freshman All-American last year as he tied for the team lead with 53 receptions and led the Demon Deacons with 722 receiving yards and nine touchdown catches. Dortch earned three ACC Player of the Week awards in 2017 and was the league's runner-up for offensive rookie of the year. He set a school record with four touchdown catches against Louisville on Oct. 28 before suffering an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year.
Dortch was one of just seven receivers in the ACC to be named to the preseason watch list.
The name Biletnikoff is synonymous with the term receiver. Fred Biletnikoff, a member of the Pro and College Football Halls of Fame, was a consensus All-America receiver at Florida State University, and an All-Pro receiver for the Oakland Raiders. He caught 589 passes for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns in his 14-year Raiders career from 1965 through 1978. Fred was the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XI.
