WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Close to 200 women took to BB&T Field Thursday (July 26) evening for the annual women's football clinic held by the Wake Forest football team. The yearly event provides women with instruction from the current coaching staff and also allowed the participants to gain knowledge of the sport and go through the gameday experience.
Decked out in Wake Forest jerseys and eye black, the women opened the night with a welcome from head coach Dave Clawson. Led by the position coaches, the women were then taught all of the positions on offense and defense, as well as how to execute a play on each side of the ball.
The camp then transitioned outside as the participants were able to get the experience of a typical football gameday by running through the gate led by the Demon Deacon on the motorcycle.
After getting warmed up, the women spent time rotating through a variety of drills before getting a chance to run the offensive and defensive plays they had learned earlier in the evening. The night was capped by a series of defensive drills followed by a social event in Bridger Field House.
