Wake Forest Ranked No. 5 Nationally in Preseason

The Deacons have been ranked in the top five in 21 consecutive polls by the United Soccer Coaches.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's soccer will head into the 2018 season ranked No. 5 in the nation by United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced on Tuesday.
This preseason poll marks 21 consecutive polls ranked in the top five nationally, dating back to the eighth week of the 2016 season. No other team has an active top-five streak of more than 13 polls.
Defending national champion Stanford is the preseason No. 1 team with 691 points in the poll, followed by Wake Forest's opening-night opponent Indiana (669). North Carolina (633) and Akron (618) are also in the top five, with Louisville (545) checking in behind the Demon Deacons (593).
Other top-25 ACC teams include Duke (10), Clemson (11), Virginia (15), and Notre Dame (17), for a total of seven ACC teams.
Wake Forest has a pair of exhibition games at Furman (Aug. 12) and vs. Loyola Maryland (Aug. 18) before taking on the Hoosiers to open the regular season (Aug. 24).
