No. 5 Deacs Picked to Win ACC Atlantic

Wake Forest received eight of the 12 first-place votes in the Atlantic Division, also receiving a vote to be overall champion.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's soccer team was projected to win the ACC Atlantic Division in a vote among league head coaches, the conference announced Wednesday.
Wake Forest received eight of the 12 first-place votes in the Atlantic, and also received a vote to be the overall champion. North Carolina was tabbed to win the Coastal Division and received the most votes to be the overall champion.
The Deacs received 64 votes in the Atlantic Division poll, followed by Clemson, which received 60 along with four first-place votes. Louisville (53), NC State (31), Syracuse (29) and Boston College (15) rounded out the Atlantic.
Seven ACC teams are ranked in the preseason United Soccer Coaches poll, including six of the top 15: North Carolina (3), Wake Forest (5), Louisville (6), Duke (10), Clemson (11) and Virginia (15).
Wake Forest is home for another exhibition game against Loyola Maryland on Saturday before opening the regular season vs. No. 2 Indiana on Aug. 24.
The Deacs have won three-straight ACC Atlantic Division crowns, as well as claiming the ACC Championship in back-to-back seasons.
