Fernandez Earns ACC Weekly Honor

Wake Forest sophomore Omir Fernandez was named the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals last week.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest sophomore Omir Fernandez was named the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday evening.

Fernandez totaled three goals in a pair of wins last week. He scored the Demon Deacons' third goal in a 4-1 win over Presbyterian before finding the back of the net twice in a 3-0 win over No. 8 NC State on Friday, including the game-winner.

The midfielder has four goals and an assist through Wake Forest's first five games of the season.

He shared the Offensive honor with Simon Enstrom of Boston College. Enstrom notched two goals and an assist in a win over Clemson. Notre Dame's Felicien Dumas was picked as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

The top-ranked Demon Deacons are the last team in the ACC to remain unbeaten and untied, currently holding a 5-0-0 overall record. Wake Forest plays host to Georgia Southern on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
