Bayley Feist was the No. 17 overall selection, the highest pick for the Deacs since 2011.
CHICAGO -- Wake Forest senior Bayley Feist was selected by the Washington Spirit with the No. 17 overall selection in the second round of the NWSL Draft on Thursday afternoon.
Feist becomes the highest draft pick from Wake Forest in the existence of the NWSL, and the highest in any league since Caitlin Farrell went No. 11 overall in the 2011 WPS Draft.
The Demon Deacons have now had three players drafted the past two seasons, as Ally Haran and Maddie Huster were picked in the third round a season ago.
Feist finished her Wake Forest career tied for 10th all-time with 22 goals, also adding 10 assists. She led the team in goals both her junior and senior seasons, scoring eight goals in 2017 and seven in 2018.
She was named third team All-ACC in 2017 and followed that up with a second team All-ACC performance in 2018. Feist also earned back-to-back All-Region honors.
With the Spirit, she becomes teammates with another Deacon alum, goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe, who set an NWSL record with 108 saves last year.
