Wake Forest goalkeeper Andrew Pannenberg earns the honor for the second time this year.
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest goalkeeper Andrew Pannenberg was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for his performances the week of Oct. 14-20, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Pannberg earned the honor for the second time, as he received it the first time on Sept. 16.
Last week, Pannenberg led the defensive effort en route to a pair of shutouts over William & Mary and No. 19 North Carolina.
Against William & Mary, Pannenberg made three saves en route to a 5-0 win. He combined with Dominic Peters for the shutout, as Pannenberg played the first 72:11 of the game.
Heading into their game against the Demon Deacons, the Tar Heels had the third-highest scoring offense in the ACC. Wake Forest kept them off the scoreboard and limited them to four total shots as Pannenberg earned his seventh solo shutout, the team's eighth of the season.
"Andrew has been a brick wall for us between the posts this year," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "He has improved week by week and gotten better almost every game. He's a big reason why we've only allowed one goal the last four games."
Wake Forest is back in action Tuesday night, playing host to Loyola Maryland on ACCNX.
