Senior Bruno Lapa led the way by earning First Team All-ACC honors for the second straight year.
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Six Demon Deacons earned All-ACC honors as the league office announced its yearly awards as voted on by the conference's head coaches.
Bruno Lapa was selected as a First Team All-ACC honoree, while Machop Chol, Alistair Johnston, Andrew Pannenberg and Isaiah Parente were each named Third Team All-ACC. Calvin Harris was picked to the ACC All-Freshman Team.
Wake Forest's five honorees on the first, second and third teams are the third-most in the league, trailing only No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Virginia, who had seven apiece.
Lapa is a First Team selection for the second straight year. He leads the team with 17 points on seven goals and three assists, as well as four game-winning goals.
"Although Bruno has not had as many points this year, he has still been one of most consistent midfielders in the league," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "He is one of the top midfielders in the country and when he is on his game he can make us a special team ."
Chol has continued to be a threat for opponents, leading the squad with seven assists. He has also scored three goals and ranks third on the team with 13 points.
"Machop is one of the nicest kids off the field, but on the field he can be a relentless attacker," Muuss added. "He's incredibly tough to defend and is a big reason we have one of the top offenses in the nation."
Johnston moved to right back this season, where he has totaled nine points on two goals and five assists. He was also named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection earlier this month.
"Alistair has been a superb captain for us in his senior year," Muuss said. "He has impressed us with his ability to defend, but he's also a critical piece of our attack, and one of the best defenders in the league."
Pannenberg stepped in as the starting goalkeeper this season and has posted seven solo shutouts, a .755 save percentage and 0.70 goals-against average between the posts.
"Andrew has been a steady presence for us in goal all season," Muuss continued. "We are lucky to have a deep group of keepers and Andrew stepped up to win the starting role and has made some huge saves to help us compete in the best soccer conference in the country."
Parente has been one of the top distributors for the Deacs, notching six assists in addition to a goal for eight points. The sophomore has 14 assists through his first 39 career games played.
"We like to possess the ball and Isaiah has a huge role in that," Muuss said. "But not only do we want to possess, we want to attack. Isaiah does a great job distributing the ball and helps facilitate our attack."
Harris was named to the rookie team after racking up 15 points on six goals and three assists. He's second on the team in both goals and points, and has scored three game-winners.
"Calvin joined us in the spring and we learned pretty quickly he could have a big role," Muuss added. "He's a creative attacker and has gained confidence throughout the season and we'll look to him to hopefully continue that confidence in the postseason."
No. 7-ranked Wake Forest is 13-3-2 overall and is squaring off against second-ranked Virginia at 4 p.m. today on the ACC Network.
