Deacs Earn No. 4 Seed in NCAA Championship

Wake Forest will play the winner of Maryland and Iona on Sunday at 5 p.m.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming NCAA Men's Soccer Championship and received a bye in the opening round of the tournament, the NCAA announced Monday afternoon.
The Demon Deacons (13-4-2) will play the winner of defending national champion Maryland (10-7-2) and Iona (14-5-1). Those teams will play on Thursday, with the winner traveling to Spry Stadium on Sunday at 5 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
Tickets for Sunday's game are on sale now and are $10 for Adults (19+), $5 for Youth (4-18) and $3 for College Students. Children under the age of 3 do not require a ticket for entry. Seating on Walt Chyzowych Alumni Hill will require a ticket for the NCAA Tournament. Wake Forest received a top-five seed for the fifth consecutive season under head coach Bobby Muuss.
"We're excited to once again bring postseason soccer to our fans at Spry Stadium," Muuss said. "We certainly have a tough path ahead of us but we'll be prepared for the challenge."
The winner among Wake Forest, Maryland and Iona will play the winner of No. 13 seed Michigan, Notre Dame and Wright State in the third round. The other quadrant for a potential NCAA quarterfinal at Spry include No. 5 seed Indiana, No. 12 seed St. Mary's, and unseeded teams Kentucky, Loyola Chicago, UC Santa Barbara and California.
A record 10 ACC teams qualified for the NCAA Championship, the most-ever from one conference. The other nine include No. 1 Virginia, No. 2 Clemson, No. 10 Virginia Tech, Boston College, Louisville, NC State, Notre Dame, Pitt and Syracuse.
