WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest senior captain Alistair Johnston was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, recognizing his success on and off the field.
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.3 GPA while being a meaningful contributor on the field in at least their second year at the school. Voting is conducted among sports information directors by region.
Johnston, Wake Forest's right back, has totaled nine points on two goals and five assists this season. He has the second-highest assist total on the team this season.
He has scored goals against Dartmouth and High Point, and recorded assists against Houston Baptist, Davidson, Boston College, North Carolina and Louisville.
"From the day he stepped on campus, Alistair has worked his tail off both in the classroom and on the field," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "He is a great representative for what we want Wake Forest student-athletes to be and I'm proud of him for receiving this well-deserved honor."
Johnston has also helped the Deacs tally eight shutouts, maintaining a top-10 defense in the nation.
No. 7 Wake Forest is back in action on Sunday, playing host to No. 22 Virginia Tech at 5 p.m. on ACC Network in the ACC Championship quarterfinals.
