The honor recognizes Madison Hammond's success on the field and in the classroom.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest senior captain Madison Hammond was named Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-District, recognizing her success on the field and in the classroom.
"The success that Madison has had both on and off the field is impressive," head coach Tony da Luz said. "For four years, she has dedicated herself to being the best player, student, and person she can be. To be able to maintain such a high GPA while being a student-athlete and also participating in other activities is no small feat."
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.3 GPA while being a meaningful contributor on the field in at least their second year at the school. Voting is conducted among sports information directors by region.
Hammond, an English major, has been a two-year team captain for the Demon Deacons. Playing primarily on the back line, she totaled 10 points on three goals and four assists this season.
In addition to her success on the field, she's also a two-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, a four-year member of the Wake Forest Orchestra and was an ACC Six for Service award winner last year.
Hammond was also named a Second Team All-ACC selection earlier this week.
