Cauthen Named ACC Video Coordinator of the Year

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Ben Cauthen, Wake Forest's director of football video operations and technology, has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Video Coordinator of the Year by the Collegiate Sports Video Association.
Cauthen was selected by a majority vote of his peers in the ACC to receive the Conference Video Coordinator of the Year honor. He is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award which will be announced at the annual CSVA banquet on May 15, 2019 in Anaheim, Calif.
The Bob Matey Award is presented to the Video Coordinator who displays innovation, determination, perseverance, and technical skill as portrayed by the late Bob Matey, legendary Video Coordinator from Texas A&M.
Cauthen came to Wake Forest after three seasons as the video coordinator at Temple University. In addition to his football video duties with the Owls, he also oversaw the department's conversion from standard definition to full high definition. He also assisted in designing the audio/visual components of the Edberg-Olson Hall football facility expansion in 2012.
Prior to his time in Philadelphia, Cauthen spent three seasons as the video coordinator for The Citadel football program. He coordinated all video operations for the football team, including game exchanges, game film, practice film and motivational highlights.
The Lancaster, S.C. native was a first-team all-area and all-regional 4A quarterback at Lancaster High School in 2001. Cauthen is a 2007 graduate of the University of South Carolina, earning a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and mass communication. While in Columbia, he worked in the sports department at WIS-TV from 2004-07.
Cauthen played football at Coastal Carolina for two seasons (2002-03) before transferring to South Carolina. He received a master's degree in secondary education in August 2011 from The Citadel. Additionally, he was previously recognized as the 2016-17 ACC Video Coordinator of the Year by the CSVA.
Cauthen and his wife Tanya reside in Winston-Salem with their daughter, Brooklyn.
