Penna, Morra to Miss Remainder of the Season

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest women's basketball head coach Jen Hoover announced Thursday (Feb. 28) that senior Elisa Penna and freshman Christina Morra will both miss the remainder of the season while recovering from a knee injury and viral illness, respectively.
Penna, a native of Bergamo, Italy has missed the last part of the season with the injury. Following consultation from doctors, it was determined that surgery was not needed for Penna at all. Penna is nearing completion of physical therapy and is expected to make a full recovery. She will end her Wake Forest career 13th on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,269 career points.
Morra, who hails from Toronto, Ontario, has missed each of the last three games with a viral illness. The freshman has appeared in 21 games this season off the bench for the Demon Deacons and recorded career-highs in points (13) and rebounds (9) against Notre Dame on Jan. 13.
Wake Forest closes out the home portion of its regular season on Thursday, Feb. 28, against Pittsburgh. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside the LJVM Coliseum.
