
Demon Deacon Trio Named to All-ACC Academic Team

Gina Conti, Elisa Penna and Ivana Raca recognized for success in the classroom and on the court
GREENSBORO, N.C. – A trio of student-athletes from the Wake Forest women's basketball team were recognized by the league office Friday (March 8), as the All-ACC Academic Team was announced. Gina Conti, Elisa Penna and Ivana Raca were all recognized for their success on the court and in the classroom.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Conti, a native of Grove City, Ohio started every game for the Deacs in 2018-19, averaging 9.1 points and 4.9 assists per game. The sophomore ranked third in the league in assists per game while her 36.3 minutes played per game was first in the ACC. After having two games as a freshman with 10 or more points, Conti exploded for 12 games of 10+ during her sophomore campaign, including each of the final three games of the season.
Penna, who earned All-ACC Academic Team honors for the third consecutive year, led the team in scoring average this past season with 15.3 points per game but was sidelined for the final 13 games of the season with a knee injury. The Bergamo, Italy native finished her Wake Forest career 13th on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,269 career points.
Raca, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, was the Deacs' most consistent scorer, as the rising junior scored 10 or more points in 22-of-30 games this past season. The forward finished tied for second on the team with four double-doubles over the course of the year and scored a career-high 22 points in the season opener against Towson. Raca finished third on the team in scoring, averaging 13.4 points per game, while also averaging 6.4 rebounds per game.
