When it comes to consistency, perhaps no other ACC team will have as consistent a group of specialists as Wake Forest will this fall.
The Demon Deacons return all three primary specialists in punter Dom Maggio, placekicker Nick Sciba and long snapper Dayton Diemel.
Maggio, a rising senior, averaged 41.8 yards per kick as a junior, the fifth-highest average in the ACC. A three-year starter, Maggio will enter his final campaign with 71 career punts inside the 20, the second-best total in school history. He is fourth in the school record book with 50 punts of 50 or more yards.
Sciba earned the starter's role during preseason camp in 2018 and delivered a remarkably consistent performance throughout the season. He was successful on all 50 PAT attempts and connected on 19 of 22 field goal tries. His 107 points scored marked the most ever by a Demon Deacon freshman. Sciba finished his freshman campaign by making each of his final 11 field goal attempts of the season.
Diemel, a rising senior, has been Wake Forest's starting long snapper since taking over the role against Florida State in 2016. Diemel has started each of the last 32 games as Wake Forest's long snapper and should continue to fill that role in 2019.
Zach Murphy will compete with Sciba for a role among the placekickers after making both of his PAT attempts in 2018. Cameron Lischke redshirted last year and will return this fall. Noah Turner is expected to back-up Diemel in the fall. Incoming freshman Ivan Mora was a talented high school punter who will join the Deacons for preseason camp.
